This week I spent three days in a row not just focusing on filmmaking but actually filming stuff. My tiny teaser post from three days ago is an example of one video I shot on the morning of day 2.

On the third day of filming - or actually night - I spent about an hour and a half in- and outside my adega, the storage room underneath my house. As it was cold and wet outside and stuffy inside, circumstances were all but ideal. Nevertheless, I managed to push through resistance - the voice inside my head that told me to stay indoor and watch a movie or read a book instead and just be comfortable - and get a lot of 'work' done.

I'm glad I did. I know by now that giving into resistance is usually followed by guilt and other less than positive emotions.

I can't say the filming went smoothly but - then again - things arent'necessarily meant to go that way. As Ted reminds me, every now and then, things will become easier over time, as we get more skilled at this. And you kwow what, he's right.

Not yet though.

The three days of filming were followed by an extremely productive non filmmaking day ( yesterday ). In a way, humans are like squirrels. Weather is a-changing around here and I need to make sure that I will be comfy when the real cold settles in in Monte Frio ( cold mountain). So, I focused on prepping for winter, while spending the day with my twin sister and her family. It was a good day.

Back to Filmmaking

Yesterday night and today, I sent a bunch of clips and audio to Ted. I was hoping that it would suffice to complete the editing of episode 2 and 3. But, even if it wouldn't, I'm willing to film some missing pieces of the puzzle.

Today, I received an email from Ted where he told me about the filming he did in the tunnels, early in the moring:

Ted:

It was a rough outing for me today. I don't know if it's because I filmed on a Friday instead of my usual Thursday, but more than half the time was spent waiting for the sounds of planes, trains and automobiles to pass. I had to delete clips because I'd be talking and then all of a sudden a loud noise would interrupt what I was saying. That doesn't work when I'm supposed to be deep down in a remote location. I literally heard sirens and train horns from 4 AM - 6 AM. So, in short, I won't be filming on a Friday again. I think air travel spikes on Friday? Hopefully, I got some stuff that I can use. I may need to start filming right after I wake up next Thursday, like 1 AM to avoid what happened today...

Had to vent...

Yes, I can talk later.

-Grumpy Ted

It seems like both of us didn't have it easy but we have no doubt i will all be worth it, in the long run.

I will be talking to Ted in an hour or so. I sure hope he's less grumpy by then ;>)

TO BE CONTINUED

P.S. We talked a couple of hours ago and Ted probably felt somewhat guilty for asking me for even more shots. He then was kind enough to send me some small edited clips for inspiration and a morale boost. One of those is this upload. It put a huge smile on my face and I can't wait to film more.
