This morning, just before getting out of bed, I had a short dream that I remember(ed) clearly and felt like sharing.

I was sitting in a room with my two sisters. I believe we were watching TV while talking. Apparently my younger sister had hit a guy in the face, something that wasn't abnormal for her. That guy had been a friend of mine. It might have been @yangyanje Not sure about it, it could have been someone else too. I think she talked about the reason she hit him - he was talking too much? - and then my twin sister added to the conversation, talking in a strange way ( using lots of difficult words ), as if making fun of the guy.

Anyhow, the most important part, that what led me to writing this, was a short part of the conversation between my sisters and I, where we started talking about

the difference between dreams and reality

My twin sister said that dreams didn't have colors

My other sister and I disagreed

and then I started talking:

The colors might not be the same as we experience them here
but there's definitely colors and they feel as real
when we dream
as they do
when we are awake.

If this wouldn't be the case, we would surely notice that we were dreaming.

Thinking about the reason why I dreamt all this, I was reminded of a Steemian who reached out on Discord yesterday night, asking for advice to deal with / get rid of repetitive nightmares.

I wrote back to him, referring to a recent write up I did on dreaming:

What Are You Thinking of Before Falling Asleep?

and telling him that he might try out practicing gratefulness before sleeping or the old-fashioned cup of warm milk ( preferably with added spices - nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and or cardamom )

The reason I shared this dream with you all, is that I found it pretty cool to talk about dreaming in a dream, let alone talking about the difference between dreams and reality and while doing so thinking that I wasn't dreaming.

Going through my house in the morning, I pondered on why I called this part of my life 'reality' and what made it stand out from my dream state. A big difference I could think of, was that in my so called 'reality' everything 'seemed' to be where - and in the state that - I had left it the day before. At least the things that I ( seem to ) have control over. Also, in my 'real' life, certain things seem to happen again and again, like sunrise and sunset. Everything seems to work out logically, like clockwork. Most of it, that is.

What do you think?

Do you ever think about the difference between your dream state and your waking life? How real do your dreams feel? Do you think there's a chance that this 'real life', even this post that you're reading now, is actually part of one big dream? A dream that starts when we are born and ends when we die. A dream that you, me and everyone around you is living, right now. A dream that we're all part of.
