Two days ago, I was on a Skype talk with my filmmaking friend Ted. We talked for two hours and – although most of the conversation was pretty fun and exciting – there was this one moment, near the end of our call, that put a huge grin on my face. It was an awesome find that is hard to explain if you aren't literally there, brainstorming along.

It is hard to understand if you have never been actively part of the filmmaking / story development process but I'm gonna try to explain it to you anyway.

It was one of these chats where Ted and I were talking story, brainstorming about our upcoming film project. A project that we named 'Tunnels of the Shadow People'.

For those of you who missed out on the earlier posts on this project, here you go: Tunnels of the Shadow People and Tunnels of the Shadow People - 2

I don't want to give away to much of the story - and it's still very much in development - but it's about two guys ( played by Ted and me ) who have stumbled upon something special in a tunnel. Something that intrigues us so much that we have to go back and do some more digging. The story / film starts with Ted('s character) underground, in the tunnels and me/ my character in a house, researching, logging and sharing our findings with a ( future ) audience.

Yes, we're going to 'star' in our own project. Not because we're awesome actors but mainly because we tried to work with and tried to find actors in the past. And - although we enjoyed collaborating with some of them - we figured out that hiring or working with actors for this project would just slow us down and possibly take away the fun. Something we don't want to happen.

This is supposed to be a fun project that will be written, directed, produced, filmed and edited by us. We might involve some people ( Steemian musicians be aware! ) for the soundtrack / music and - who knows - for some roles or art - at a later time.

In the end, it is all about enjoying the process and Ted and I are really good at doing so together. Things get a little more complicated if we ( try to involve ) more people, control freaks that we are. Believe me, if we enjoy the process, many of you will enjoy the result / product. So it's all for the better...

The project will be shared on Steemit, in parts / episodes. And - if all goes well - starting in September.

And now back to to that one moment, two days ago, that put a huge smile on my face:

Ted and I were trying to decide on the looks of a certain object that plays an important part in the story. We couldn't make up our minds on what it would look like.

All of a sudden, Ted told me that he had an idea that I would like. He said that it wasn't about its looks at all but that it, in fact, made a sound. This kind of out-of-the-box thinking made me very excited and I replied that I really liked his idea ( In the future, on our commentary track, I might claim it as my idea though ). We chatted for a while on the possibilities that this find gave us and - a minute or five later - ended our filmmaking Skype call with a satisfied feeling on both sides. As if we just finished an awesome buffet.

I have no idea if this is understandable for those of you who aren't into filmmaking at all but I can tell you that I get a huge boost from these kind of conversations, especially when it leads to those kind of findings. Before we even started filming, I am already starting to picture scenes in my head. I can see the potential and can't wait to start making it reality and share it with you all.
